If you arrive at nighttime as we did, it is hard to discover the awesome location of the villa, but in the morning when you get up with the stunning views of the Catania bay and (sometimes) Mount Etna, you won´t believe it. The Villa is located directly on top of a cliff.
The premises are kept very well. Once a week the complete house is cleaned by two friendly ladies (for more than 3 hours !), the gardener keeps the garden in a perfect shape and the pool service looks after the water quality.
Nando and Nino are very caring and always available.
The bedrooms (all with seaview) are rather small (exept the masterbedroom), but there are plenty of terraces and a big living room. The house is next to a staircase leading to an access to the water. The pool is bigger than it looks on the photos, but unfortunately not heated. The poolhouse consists of three showers and a toilet.
A covered bbq is directly at the seafront, including a stone pizza oven (which we did not use).
In October the bar and the little shop are closed - next shops and restaurants are 20 minutes away. (e.g. a huge Auchan supermarket in Catania.) The villa is perfectly located to discover the South East of Sicily (Noto, Siracusa, Catania, Taomina, Mount Etna etc.)
We would love to come back in the future.

Casa Olimpia in Taormina.
This apartment offers very good accommodation for 4 people. It is spacious and well equipped, but the two best points are the shared pool, the views and the location.
The pool was a very pleasant surprise. It was larger than we expected and it was great to cool off in the heat of the day.
The views (right across to the mainland coast on a clear day) were spectacular.
You can walk from the apartment complex straight in to Taormina centre.
The owners were very helpful on our arrival.
Everyone else at the apartment complex was Italian.

I sincerely recommend Villa Ester to anyone seeking a piece of mind and real touch of Sicily. The house is great, spacious, clean and well equipped and after a day we felt at home. The terrace is huge and the view is truly amazing as you see almost the whole of the east coast and Etna in the background. The house and everything looks far better then on the images. The place is close to Syracuse and Catania so it is easy to reach everything you need and explore the area. Very close you can find both types of beaches, sandy and stone ones. We really liked the local restaurant because it was inexpensive and the food and service was great so we spent most of the evenings there although we could go to close by cities. We highly recommend this to anyone seeking a relaxed holiday. Both Nando and Ester whom we met were really friendly and welcoming so we haven't had any worries. Although it was our first time in Sicily we haven't had any problems finding the house following instructions as it is a bit off the road but very close to the shore.
Highly recomended

The apartment was in beautiful condition, exactly as described and just like the photos. It was well equipped with everything you need for self catering, although Taormina has so many great restaurants that you may not want to eat in...
Our hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful and took us on a tour of the town when we arrived to show us all the best places to eat, drink, shop and get the most delicious ice cream in town! The apartment is very central - less than five minutes walk from the Corso Umberto which is the main pedestrian street in Taormina.
The pool was fantastic with amazing views of the bay, although it is only open certain hours based around siesta so you can use it from 9.30am to 2pm and then from 4.30pm to 8pm. We were there before the main holiday season so had no trouble getting four sun loungers around the pool but beware that during really busy times, you are only allowed one per apartment.
I would recommend paying extra for the air conditioning if you are there in the height of summer as it got very hot in the bedrooms at night.
You don't need a car to stay here because there are trains/buses/cable cars to get around, but we went on some great day trips using our car.

We had a wonderful time in Marias cottage.
Contrary to our expectations the weather was fantastic...(July,09). The apartment has super air conditioning and the balconies receive the afternoon breeze which is a delight. We had all our meals al fresco in the vine covered gazebo ...great.
The apartment was immaculately clean ...after years of villa rentals this was the cleanest ..no grunge in corners.
Maria was a fabulously helpful and accomodating LADY.
No question went unresearched and no request refused.

(Anmerkung: Die letzten Sätze sind Maria und Nando persönlich gewidmet; ich löse mit der Erwähnung der Waschmaschine ein Versprechen ein) Maria and her son Nando are especially likeable people who are eager to present the meaning of sicilian hospitality to their guests. Also, Nando is remarkably reliable at answering enquiries as swift as possible. When we arrived at the airport we even had a welcome message on our mobile phone! We are very grateful that they made our stay an extraordinary experience. No doubt Maria's washing machine played an important role - we don't know what we would have done without it! It was love on first sight! Now that we are back in Hamburg and we have to do our laundry down at the port basin again we miss it badly! (These last sentences are dedicated to Maria and Nando. By mentioning the washing machine I'm keeping a promise) "

We had a great week in this spacious and high standard apartment. The complex is well-maintained, with a handful of regular residents and a lot of holiday homes. The location is perfect for exploring the charming town of Taormina. The view is stunning and just 200 meters from the front door is the northern gate to the Old town. The Greek Theatre is also just a short stroll away. Supermarkets and bakery in the neighborhood too. Being very early in the season, we had the pool area pretty much for ourselves. The water was a bit on the cool side in May, though. Beware families with children, the woman living in the apartment directly below will let you know if she thinks your kids make to much noise.
Fabulous place to stay in a charming town in wonderful Sicily!

My mother and I spent a fantastic week at this apartment, the description of the villa will not disappoint and Nando's directions are easy to follow. We both felt that great care and genuine thoughtfullness were taken. Lovely view, spotlessly clean and an excellent spot for discovering some stunning sites. Noto Antica, Etna, Pantalica and Anapo valley to name a few.
Maria and Nando were very kind and made us feel part of the family, great for practising Italian as Maria is a sympathetic teacher!!
Maria and Nando big thank you for all your kindness and your lovely cooking Maria. Baci e abbracci, fino al prossimo ano Zoe & Kay -

Very lovely friendly hosts, we felt instantly very welcome. The house for was perfect for a relaxing week near the sea. We stayed out of peak season, so the surroundings were very quiet and peaceful, nothing at all disturbed us. Very clean and tidy, great view of the sea and Mt Etna, about a 15 minute drive to the supermarket/restaurants. Highly recommended, would stay there again next time we visit Sicily.
